Integrated Steel Mill Energy Footprint Optimization

Location: Hamilton, ON Canada

Performa study to evaluate overall site energy usage and predict future plant energyfootprint resulting from various changes to production and processes.  Develop project opportunities to reduceenergy consumption and the use of purchased fuels.

Scope of Work:

  • Develop interactive model to compare plant-wide energy requirements for various scenarios
  • Validate model using previous year site data
  • Use model to evaluate options for:  
         
    • Minimizing purchased fuel (Natural Gas, Electricity, Oil)
    •    
    • Reducing flare emissions
    •    
    • Optimizing the steam system (generation, distribution, and usage)
    •  
  • Develop recommendations for optimal utilization of available energy sources
  • Identify project opportunities to reduce energy consumption and external fuel purchases
  • Evaluate viable options based on project readiness, ease of implementation, and risk
  • Perform project economic analysis, including:  
         
    • Order-of-magnitude CAPEX / OPEX estimates
    •    
    • Annual savings projection
    •    
    • Project ROI / Payback period
