Development of recommendations and staged implementation strategy to achieve world-class environmental targets for Smelter I.

Study Work Includes:

  • Stack and roofline fugitive emissions testing for SO2 and particulate matter to establish baseline for existing emissions characteristics
  • Evaluate various improvements to the smelter and PMR primary and secondary off-gas systems
  • Develop order-of-magnitude capital and operating cost estimates
  • Develop preliminary process flow diagrams and GAs for recommended modifications
  • Develop a 5-year master plan for phased implementation to meet emissions targets

Basic Engineering Work Includes:

  • Design of new baghouse system with hydrated lime injection
  • Design of new hydrogen peroxide-based wet scrubber
  • Design of reagent unloading, handling, and distribution systems
  • Design of dust handling and recycle systems
